Nobody should be on door duty

Your buzzer only rings one phone. Let’s fix that.

BuzzMeBro gives your apartment its own number that rings everyone who lives there. Whoever is free answers and opens the door, wherever they are.

How it works
  1. Someone buzzes your apartment
A delivery, a friend, your mom.
  2. Everyone who lives there gets the call
You add your roommates once. After that their phones ring like any other call.
  3. Whoever is free opens the door
Answer and press 9, wherever you are. Nobody walks down to the lobby.

Sound familiar?

  1. 01
Your food is in the lobby and your roommate is at work
The buzzer only rings their phone, so your dinner sits downstairs getting cold.
  2. 02
Your roommate goes away and you become the doorman
Two weeks of walking down for every delivery, friend and plumber.
  3. 03
You moved in and the buzzer still calls the old tenant
A stranger has been turning your guests away for months.

It is all the same problem: one buzzer, one number, one phone. Put everyone who lives there on it and any of you can open the door.

Built around the buzz

  • Voicemail can never take the buzz
If one phone goes to voicemail, the call keeps ringing everyone else.
  • Missed it? Reply 9
Miss the call and you get a text right away. Reply 9 while your visitor is still there and the door opens.
  • Open for the next buzz
Expecting a delivery? Let the next buzz in on its own, any time in the next 10, 30 or 60 minutes.
  • Guest passes and codes
Send a guest a link to tap at the door, or a code to type at the panel. One time, until a date, or on set days and hours.
  • Party mode
Having people over? The door opens by itself when someone buzzes, for 1 to 12 hours or until you switch it off.
  • Quiet hours and pause
Each person picks when their phone stays quiet, or steps off the ring for a few hours. Everyone else still gets the call.
And 5 more
  • Your visitor just hears ringing
While your phones ring, the person downstairs hears an ordinary ring.
  • Weekly schedules
Have the door open itself at set times each week, like for a cleaner on Tuesday mornings.
  • Everyone has a name
See who is on the door and who opened it.
  • Nobody is added quietly
Everyone on the door gets a text when someone is added or removed.
  • Buzz history
Every buzz, and who opened the door.

Made in Toronto

Your household’s data is never for sale.

We never sell or share your data. That’s our philosophy, and it matters more than ever in the age of AI, when everyone’s data is being sold. BuzzMeBro is built and run in Toronto and paid by your subscription, nothing else.

  • Never sold
Your phone numbers, your address and your door log are never sold, rented, licensed or traded. Not to advertisers, data brokers, landlords or anyone else.
  • Never used to train AI
Not our own models and not anybody else’s. No AI company gets your household’s data from us, at any price.

Your data is never sold or shared with advertisers, data brokers or AI companies. The door runs on a few service providers for calls, texts, payments and hosting, each doing one job, and the privacy policy names every one.

Questions people ask

Is there a free trial?

Yes. First month free, then $9.99 a month for the whole apartment. You add a card to start, and nothing is charged until your free month is over. We text you a week before it ends, and you can cancel before then and pay nothing. One free month per person, phone, card and apartment.

Will this work in my building?

If your buzzer calls a phone number, yes. That is almost every building in Canada. We check before you pay, and if there is no local number free in your area we tell you and charge you nothing. One heads up: most buildings open the door on 9, but some use a different number. The app always shows yours.

Can I just use a free Fongo or TextNow number instead?

If you live alone and your buzzer only fails because your number is not local, a free number can work, and our guide to free numbers says so. Two catches. A free number belongs to one person’s app, so it does not ring everyone who lives with you. And both services can take the number back if you stop making outgoing calls from it, while your buzzer keeps dialling it. BuzzMeBro gives the apartment its own number that rings everyone on it.

How does BuzzMeBro make money?

From your subscription, and nothing else. We run no advertising and we do not sell data. Our privacy policy says your information is never sold and never used to train AI.

Do you sell my data, or use it to train AI?

No, and it is in our privacy policy, not only here. Your phone numbers, your address and your door log are never sold, rented or licensed to anyone, and never used to train AI. We are a registered business in Toronto and we never record your calls.

Do my roommates need to install anything?

No. The buzzer rings their normal phone, the same as any other call. They answer, press 9, and the door opens. There is nothing to download. When you add someone, their phone starts ringing for the buzzer right away, and they get a text saying they were added. The app is for the housekeeping, like changing who is on the list or seeing who opened the door, and you never have to open it.

How many roommates can I add?

Up to four phones on one apartment, and nobody pays extra. Every phone on the list rings at the same time, and any of them can open the door. Bigger place? Tell us. We would rather hear it than have you guess.

What if nobody picks up?

Every phone in the unit rings at once, so someone usually gets it. If nobody does, everyone gets a text with a tap to call the visitor back.

Do I have to talk to my building?

Someone has to change the number your buzzer calls, and for most people that is building management. We write the message for you with your new number already in it, so there is nothing to fill in and nothing to get wrong. Most buildings do it in two to five business days, and your old buzzer keeps working the whole time.

I already have BuzzMeBro. How do I get back in?

Sign in with the phone number you signed up with. There is no password to forget — we text you a code. From there you can add or remove roommates, open the door from your phone, and change your plan or your card.

Roommate or referral, which one do I use?

It depends on whether they live with you. These are the two:

Add a roommate, freeThey join your buzzer number. Same apartment, same door, no extra cost.
Refer a friend, a free month eachThey get their own number for their apartment. Both apartments get a month free after their first payment.
Can I cancel?

Any time. Service runs to the end of what you paid for, then we hold your number for 15 days while your building changes your buzzer to another number. We write that message too. Change your mind inside the window and you keep the same number, with nothing to reprogram.

Who can open my door?

Only a call from your building’s buzzer can open the door, so a stranger calling your number cannot open anything. Everyone on your list gets a text whenever someone is added, naming who made the change, and every open is logged with who pressed it.
